I am quite sure that is not a problem with you TV software but of your 
graphics card driver.

I guess you have a nvidia card. An if I am right with the latter you did not 
install the proprietary nvidia drivers so far?

An btw: freevo is not a tv playing software, it is only a graphical frontend 
for tv/video players such as mplayer etc.
