Good evening,

opensuse 11.2 - Gnome - Thunderbird mailer.

Kindly please where does thunderbird store its local folders and mail
info. I would like to save that to another drive for backup.

~/.thunderbird/RANDOMNAME.default/Mail/

My rsync isn't allowed to copy that folder. Could you tell me what permissions
you have for it and its children, please?

That's not possible. If rsync is not allowed, it is because rsync is not running as the owner of the files. Check it. Or run it as root.

My guess is that you are making a backup to a different user (different uid). That will not do, you will have to change the ownership. Either you do it as root, or use tricks.
