I dd'd an image of Suse Studio to a hard drive and when attempting to boot from it I get an error of;
waiting for /dev/sda1 to appear... could not find /dev/sda1
The drive has only two partitions, sda1 = /, and sda2 = swap. Grub loads fine, so the /boot dir on sda1 is being read correctly. Preceding the above error I get an error of;
FATAL: module ext3 not found.
That most probably means that the ext3 kernel module is not in initrd, which would be very strange. You can check that by mounting the SUSE Studio image (with -o loop), and check the content of .../boot/initrd: zcat initrd | cpio -it | fgrep ext3.ko must output something like lib/modules/2.6.27.42-0.1-pae/kernel/fs/ext3/ext3.ko If not, you have to update the initrd in the SUSE Studio image. If yes, I have no idea what's going on here.
