[02-17-10 15:25]: I am attempting to install "Ekiga" soft phone which, as its developers say, "shipped with openSuSE v11.1"; oS v11.1 is what I am running. Ekiga does appear in the YaST list.
When I accept installation,
If it doesn't appear on the *YaST* list, where does it appear to allow you to *accept* installation?
I had searched for Ekiga, and found it. I checked the box, and clicked on "Accept" Then, as often happens, a list came up with the names of additional packages that needed to be installed as well. This is what I meant by "dependencies". Since I want to install Ekiga, I OKed this as well.
YaST presents a list of dependencies to be downloaded too, and asks for the DVD. That's as far as it gets, because the packages required to satisfy the dependencies are not present on the DVD, nor apparently anywhere else, so the following error message appears.
***** Error: IO:Failed to provide Package libsigc++2-2.2.2-40.37. Do you want to retry retrieval?
Disable the dvd as a repository and add the online ones.
All the online ones are enabled. That is how I keep them. That appears to be my problem: having been nudged my you, I discover that when the DVD "repository" is enabled, YaST doesn't see anything else. That never occured to me, and I have never been stymied by the fact before. Disabling the DVD solved the problem, for which I am grateful to you.
Can someone suggest where these packages might be, so that I can download them?
use the force, luke: http://software.opensuse.org/search webpin libsigc++2 pin libsigc++2
You apparently like to ask questions here, but do not read the forum.
I envy people that are able to read hundreds of posts on this forum; I visit several other forums too, concerning other subjects, and suppose that others do, so there are several (or many) hundreds of articles to wade through daily, and they can accumulate to thousands, if some days go by when I am unable to visit forums at all, and of course one has other chores as well. I am swamped as it is. If you aren't, I do not know where you get the time. I just peruse the articles if I have time to do so.
ps. No need to download them, install them with YaST2 from the repositories
Now I know that, when the DVD is enabled, everything else is effectively disabled.
