Exactly. It didn't work. You had to run /usr/sbin/install_bcm43_firmware first. How could anyone know about that without hours of searching? Did openSUSE tell you to do that or did you have to look it up yourself? How did you know to do that?
To be perfectly honest I already knew, because I have an older PCMCIA wireless card that uses the same Broadcom chip, and I had to find out back then what I still know today. Nevertheless I googled "opensuse broadcom", clicked the first link (http://en.opensuse.org/Broadcom_BCM43xx_Wireless) and did what it told me to do under "Manual Installation".
