KNM can't edit system connections yet. Yes, you're right. But, NM in Ubuntu can do it. Hope openSUSE can implement it in KDE too.
if you want to only use your manual connection you can disable NM in YaST and delete the network card's configuration, then re-enable NM to get rid of 'Auto eth0'. I did that, but it did not work. When I re-enable NM in Yast, the auto eth0 comes again. Really bad!
