Ok, I installed 11.2 on my laptop and selected KDE4. So far it's slow, confusing, and I can't figure out how to make things work.
Please, no comments about googling. I've looked and looked, and now I'm ready to give up. But....
1. How do I change the K-Button from the Slab to the old style menu??
You figured this one out.
2. How do I get my desktop back? Somehow I clicked something and the desktop folder just disappeared.......How can I have a KDE3 style desktop? On the WHOLE desktop without some stupid config thing on the side.
Right click on the desktop-->Desktop Settings and select plain desktop. Might take care of 3 & $ as well.
3. Is there a KDE3 Theme for KDE4? I looked at the available themes and didn't see anything useful.
4. How do I change the panel? A lot of the old options are just gone.
Basically, if anyone can tell me how to make it look and act like KDE3 I'd be very appreciative. I'll even work on adding a page to the Wiki. I just want clean and simple with no effects and no eye candy......
This is a P3 laptop with an ATI Rage128 based chipset with 8MB VRAM. Not interested in compositing or anything like that. KDE3/11.0 was so much faster than this.......
Thanx
