Has anyone else run into the problem of burning DVD's? K9copy, Dvd95, and XDVDShrink - ALL - lock up the system tighter than a crabs butt - on ALL systems I've tried it on!! All boxen are 64-bit and updated 11.2. ALL have codecs and libdvdcss.

I've been using k9copy to shrink DVD's for a while now and aside from a crash here and there for odd reasons that usually get fixed in the next updates, I don't have any problems. Sounds like 11.2 is having a problem w/ your drive?
If you read closely Fred's original message, he is talking about "*burning* DVD's".
My response was that k9copy does not *burn* DVDs but copies them. k3b is the app. which actually does the burning (if selected to do so in k9copy).
(I am running k9copy successfully in 11.2.)

I understand that, but if all those programs he's trying lock up the machine, then something surely isn't right. I see DVD95 uses k3b. Fred, are you having problems burning anything with k3b by itself? Anything in /var/log/messages?
"Good thinking, Number 99!" :-) I always copy a DVD to the HD, check that it actually works, and then burn it to a disc. So, if Fred is using k9 *and* something like k3b together then I understand his concern. But as individual applications, used by themselves, neither k9 nor k3 are causing *me* any problems.
