Sorry, but the TB in 11.2 does not have the password set.
true for new profiles
What do you mean by "I ... linked .thunderbird to the old .thunderbird on my old home"? Via a symlink, or what?
yes. This allows using several versions (11.1, even windows) with the same data. Works well (almost :-)
Why not just simply copy ~/.thunderbird across to the new installation
because I dob't trust the new install (and I was right). Anyway I also tried with a copy and the result is the same.
I edited the ini file to have two profiles (old and default). New (default) one don't ask for pass, but old one (my old full profile) ask for one.
May be I will have to fill a bugzilla.
I have now installed in the past week or so 11.2 on 3 computers - one as late as this afternoon, my time - and I have had no problems with TB. I simply backup my ~/.thunderbird [and .mozilla] to an USB flash drive and then copy it/[both] to the new installation of 11.2. Simple, no dramas - and never have had any for the past many years. BTW, I always install 'clean' - never upgrade from the earlier version. Is this your problem (see below)?
is it possible to have thunderbird 2 with 11.2?
Why not? The only thing is that you will need to download the file and install it yourself. But before doing this I suggest that you really check what you have done with your present 11.2 installation because there is NO problem with TB 3.0b in 11.2 re passwords. How many copies of /home *do* you have installed on your computer? Your posts seem to indicate that you have been using symlinks to the "old" installations of TB for some time now. Perhaps your symlinks have now become corrupted and you are picking up something from somewhere which is what is causing this problem (for you).
