I assume that "KDM4" refers to the KDE logon manager. If so, for the
record, I have never used Gnome and yet I have never had the problem Lew
mentioned. Same thing on my wife's computer.

Ah, perhaps the answer lies in the fact that I have never had anything
Intel installed.
