Hi Dominique,

Can you try the package from the VLC Repository?

and 11.2, just replace the number accordingly).

Yes, I just downloaded and installed the package from the appropriate VLC
repo. Zypper now tells me:

Information for package vlc:

Repository: @System
Name: vlc
Version: 1.0.2-2.3
Arch: i686
Vendor: VideoLAN Project (http://www.videolan.org)
Installed: Yes
Status: up-to-date
Installed Size: 1.3 M
Summary: VLC - Video Lan Client

And this version works as expected!

It would not be the first time that the official repo works and PM does
not.

In the past, I know there were incompatibilities between the VLC repo and
Packman, which caused codec confusion, if memory serves. Has this been
addressed now, to your knowledge? For openSuSE 10.3 at least, the advice was
usually to disable the VLC repo after pulling in libdvdcss to avoid issues.

Thanks for the tip!

Joop
