Hi,
When I delete the Soft-RAID device /dev/md1 -- will the device names of the following RAID devices (i.e., /dev/md2, /dev/md3, etc.) stay the same on reboot, or will they be renumbered?
I'm reluctant to try that on my live system, so maybe someone here knows the answer... ;-)
"Knowing the answer" might be something different then done-it-myself... I have two array's one md0 the other md1. While wanting to enlarge md1, i had to repair md0, because of a defect-drive). As i also wanted to shrink md0 i decided to completely remove all disks* (with mdadm) and add just four of the disks with yast again. The five disks belonging to md1 just remained belonging to md1 Does that answer your Q? *making an backup, rebuild softraid, reformat, and restore the backup takes about a half of the time compared to checking/shrinking a reiserfs ;-) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
