Why isn't the kernel-source which YaST downloaded work as it has always done in the past :-( ? What do I need to do to get the nVidia driver for 11.2MS7 working so that I can test the desktop effects, et alia? (At the moment I am getting ~60fps when I should be getting ~3000fps); and finally,
To help people not to download whole source when you need just linux-obj directory and few more files, now we have kernel-<flavor>-devel packages, where <flavor> is default, desktop etc. If that fails because of dependencies you can install kernel-syms package that will pull in all flavors of devel packages (it did last time, haven't checked again), and that will work.
Nvidia...run needs only that to compile drivers.
I had better reply to your message before it, too, disappears! (All the other responses from Carlos, Boyd and (?) [sorry, cannot remember name at the moment] vanished when I went to delete some messages - vanished as in didn't even go to the trash can to be resurrected if needed :-( . A new quirk of the new Thunderbird 3.0 beta :-( . Thanks, Rajko, for your response. OK, I'll go looking for the syms package. While still in this thread, and in response to the posts I received from Carlos etc (see above), I recall Clayton giving an answer to someone who also lost the plasma-thingie containing the icons of the applications that person was using. Clayton mentioned about deleting some file in (?)~/kde4, I think, which would restore the vanished "plasma box-thingie".
