Jim Sabatke pecked at the keyboard and wrote:
I did a fresh install of 11.1 on a friend's computer. I backed up his home directory and deleted everything in it after this problem first appeared (then selectively restored things like .mozilla and .thunderbird, etc.)
The problem that has happened through two new installs is: The system does not initially display a panel bar at the bottom of the screen (or anywhere else either), it only displays a very limited menu of a few applications on the screen.
When I create a panel, I can add one applet, and only one applet. The applet is placed in the center of the panel and cannot be moved. If I add a second applet, it is displayed directly over the first applet. Accordingly, to display an application launcher menu and a digital clock, I have to create two panels.
Also, when running programs are minimized, they disappear from view and cannot be reaccessed.
Any ideas out there?
I'm running KDE4
TIA,
Jim
