Now all is fine again without HPLIP and the standard PPD files for "HP LaserJet 5M Postscript (recommended)" JetDirect & "HP Deskjet F4100 series" USB.
I never liked HP software, even in my windoze days, especially since the first all-in-one devices came out. The Linux all-in-one software seems to be much better lately. Just do not allow HP software on the system. It cost me a few hours, then I managed to wipe it all and use only what comes with openSUSE.
Ok.......'glad it all worked out for you! Maybe it has something to do with JefDirect. MOST of the client systems I have, HPLIP has been the "ticket" to get printing working correctly.
