I followed Andre's suggestion and mopunted the partition through Yast2. I gave it the name "storage" (see system commands output at the bottom). The problem now is that as user "mauede" I am not allowed to move or copy any file to "storage", though I can list its contents it (ls command). I tried to change the accessrights as root using the command chmod and even tried to change its owner using chown. Apparently such commands are executed (no error message) but nothing changes..... what am I doing wrong ? Thank you in advance. maura mauede@bordighera:~> su - Password: bordighera:~ # cd /home bordighera:/home # ll total 8 drwxr-xr-x 33 mauede users 4096 Aug 31 04:45 mauede drwxr-xr-x 1 root users 4096 Jul 30 05:31 storage bordighera:/home # chmod a=+wr storage bordighera:/home # ll total 8 drwxr-xr-x 33 mauede users 4096 Aug 31 04:45 mauede drwxr-xr-x 1 root users 4096 Jul 30 05:31 storage auede@bordighera:~> sudo /sbin/fdisk -l root's password: Disk /dev/sda: 80.0 GB, 80000000000 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9726 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Disk identifier: 0x5c1d5c1d Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 2 1959 15727635 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/sda2 1960 3917 15727635 83 Linux /dev/sda3 3918 4178 2096482+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sda4 4179 9726 44564310 7 HPFS/NTFS mauede@bordighera:~> mount /dev/sda2 on / type ext3 (rw,acl,user_xattr) /proc on /proc type proc (rw) sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw) debugfs on /sys/kernel/debug type debugfs (rw) udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw) devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,mode=0620,gid=5) /dev/sda1 on /windows/C type fuseblk (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,default_permissions,blksize=4096) fusectl on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw) securityfs on /sys/kernel/security type securityfs (rw) none on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type binfmt_misc (rw) gvfs-fuse-daemon on /home/mauede/.gvfs type fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon (rw,nosuid, nodev, user=mauede) /dev/sda4 on /home/storage type fuseblk (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,default_permissions,blksize=4096) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
