So now I'm home. I upgraded to 4.3 (I'd seen so much praise), hoping it would solve my problems. Applied all the updates up to this evening.
NetworkManager still doesn't start up upon boot or restart. ...
Arrgh! So I was just exploring the wilds of yast, and noticed that in the network devices there were 4 tabs. Checking into what they were, I see the first tab, "global options" (it had defaulted to the second, "Overview") has a radio button "Network Setup Method", which was actually set to "Traditional Method with ifup". I set it to "User Controlled with NetworkManager", and my wifi now works just as it did in 10.3. I've now rebooted the computer twice, logged out and back in, and gone to hibernation; each time I restarted it connected immediately and let me communicate (I'm sending this via wifi). Thanks to the suse and kde guys, and sorry for the sillines -- wish I'd explored more fully before spouting off. jp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
