But, but, you have to keep in mind that the Check Media in the oS CDs

Basil,

I stand to be corrected, but I seem to recall that the md5sum for an iso
is different to a burned CD. From memory (and not complete at that) you
need to add options to indicate the sector size of the CD for it to
calculate it correctly.

So, check the download md5sum against the published result, but this
will not give the same result as a burned CD.

Thanks Allen, but when one burns the iso and then boots the Live CD, or
the DVD, you have the option to Check the Media to ensure that what you
are about to boot/install will be error free. There are no parameters to
be specified for this check: the option simply goes away and checks the
media.

Every check I have made on MS5 and MS6 KDE Live CDs using this option
comes up with the error, "md5sum wrong".

I've checked earlier versions of oS (both CD and DVD) and the checks all
come up positive.

I can see why k3b comes up with a verification error because it is
comparing apples with oranges but not when the built-in media check in
the CD/DVD shows that the media is crap.
