Thanks a lot for your words Jano! I'm rushing out the door right now, but I will be working to include the changes you suggested as soon as I have the time. Also, thanks to you and the rest of the team for the great work you do! This cheat sheet is little compared to that. Regards, Juan On Fri, Aug 14, 2009 at 2:12 PM, Jano Kupec<jkupec@suse.cz> wrote:

As the newcomer I am to OpenSUSE, I found myself frequently consulting the zypper man pages, as well as the Zypper Usage section on the OpenSUSE site at [0], so I thought it would be nice to have a cheat sheet to consult when I had doubts, and since I looked for one and couldn't find it, I created one of my own to have all the data together. And of course, I want to share this with all of you, let me know what you think of it. I uploaded it to Google Docs, here are the links:

Hi Juan!
Very good job, indeed! :O)
Few comments:
the cheat sheet should mention zypper version it is describing Ideally, this should be the latest stable version (currently 1.0.x).
why not just mention one of the three means of getting command help (i would use 'zypper help [command]', the other two are for those used to --help/-h, and are common in linux world)
in modifyrepo examples, the following one might be more interesting than -Ka (that goes for the zypper/Usage wiki page, i'll change it): zypper mr -kt # enable rpm files caching for all remote repos
adding repos: the example needs an alias
in Selecting Packages, by capability, i'd put zypper in 'perl(Log::Log4perl)' instead of one of those two. That'll make it more obvious what a capability is.
... by specifying an .rpm file, the example could be: zypper in skype-2.0.0.72-suse.i586.rpm
in Zypper in Scripts, the 'zypper --non-interactive' update should now be 'zypper --non-interactive patch' in fact (and given the comment).
Packages Locks: the subsection title should be "Lock Packages", not "Lock all Pacakges"
That's it for now. I see the cheat sheet is already on the zypper's wiki page, good! Thanx a bunch again! :O) I hope you'll get a few followers :O)
Looking at the examples on that page, i guess i should come up with a few improvements here and there :O)
