I did not mean to shout. I just had the caps lock key on ... by chance.
Well, the user tryed to download the big file through ftp.
That's what he said. But the connection was immediately closed by the host that I think is my laptop (where the big file resides). I do not know how to enable him to use ftp or ssh or any other protocol you may advice.
He has all acces rights to the project directory.

It is not possible to give a correct answer unless you specify which protocol is he going to use to extract the file.
So I'll assume you are going to use ssh and scp, correct? There is no size limit I know of. Look up into your logs.
