This was a bit surprising. In this rating openSuSE is theleader in the number of obsolete packages and lag time in packaging.
Granted the data underlying the study is not bulletproof, but it does
seem to suggest a bit of corporate paralysis. I have no idea of the
differences between the ways other distros handle upstream/downstream
package movement, but some of the distros shown to do a better job
have only a tiny fraction of the resources that openSuSE has. All good
info to look at for comparison purposes. Take a look:
http://oswatershed.org/One thing to keep in mind is that openSUSE 11.1 was released last
year. It will be behind all the other distros that follow a 6 month
release cycle.
Ditto, that was my first thought. These counts depend heavily on where
you draw the line in the various releases life-cycle.
