All,
This bug has been around for a while and I think I'm the only voter.
[Bug 197851] Dolphin crashes when trying to connect to MS windows shared directory

It seems like core functionality we need fixed before 11.2 comes out.

Greg, Oh the irony --- as much as I hate flipper, I can actually connect to XP smb shared directories and those shared by samba. See: (138k) http://www.3111skyline.com/download/openSUSE_bugs/kde4/screenshots/dolphin-x... However, dolphin had no ability to search for or find the smb shares available. Clicking on Places -> Network -> Samba Shares resulted in the Error: Unable to connect to smb://smb-network. I had to click on this multiple times, then manually input smb://hostname before it would find any smb shares. Then clicking on Places -> Network -> Samba Shares (two more time -- which failed), then it finally showed the workgroup properly. This multiple failures to connect seem very similar to the fish nightmare being experienced by all users and may be related. This should be investigated in conjuction with https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189235 I believe the difference in my being able to connect is probably due to the fact that I had my user/password combination already set in control center -> Network & Connections -> Sharing -> Local Network Browsing. -- David C.
