Hi, I've observed a strange memory leak (?) issue with Kmail on my 11.0 KDE 4.3 RC3 install. I use POP3 and have around 5000 emails...1200 in the Inbox and rest in an Archive folder. The memory usage starts off at ~45MB and if I click on any email with a large attachment..say a PDF file of 4 MB, it jumps to 88MB and back again to 45 MB if I click on any other message.
Also, with time...the memory usage starts to increase and has gone as high as 80MB. If I close Kmail and restart, it returns back to normal. I don't know if this is normal behavior with Kmail, since I never paid attention to it. I've created a bug report on bugs.kde.org on this:- https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201083
Has anyone observed this as well?
Regards Anshul
Anshul, I suspect that the memory use is adobe related and not kmail related. I have 11.0 with 4.3 RC3 (4.2.98) and I haven't noticed any additional memory usage with multi-meg powerpoint files, etc.. Adobe plugins are notorious memory hogs. I have 882 msg in the inbox and folders with as many as 5500 mails on a pop account. kmail seems to run like it did in the earlier 4.3 rc releases. I'm not saying kmail doesn't have a new bug, I just haven't experienced it yet... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
