Listmates,
It looks like the kde devs had finally filtered down all of the broken fish bugs to bug number 189235 "fish protocol broken". To help get this bug fixed, go to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189235 and vote for this bug. Of course, I can't tell you how to use your votes, but use the maximum of 20 votes ;-)
Seriously, the bugs appear to get fixed based on a priority basis. Part of that decision takes into account the number of votes the bug has. This bug cripples remote administration in kde4 and has been very slow to be fixed by the devs. You votes will help. Thanks.
sftp:// works though
Anders
Thanks Anders, I'll have to check if I can get mc to use it and see if Quanta can be made to use it. Using mc with cd /#sh:<host> hangs when using it in kde4 konsole on occasion. kde3/konsole/mc -- no problems. sftp:// works great in kde4 konqueror as an alternative to fish. I get the "connection broken" fish message, then I just change 'fish' to 'sftp' and bingo! It works. So far no sftp errors in kde4 konqueror, kate, kwrite, etc... across the LAN or WAN. I like it...
