I'm stuck with a nvidia FX5500 board. The driver version i have installed is 173.14.18.... but according to Nvidia site, the latest version is 173.18.20... I've configured Yast to use repo http://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/11.1, anyone know if the repo is up to date as yast doesn't want to update my installed version.
According to: ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/11.1/i586/ The one you have is the most recent one available in the YaST repository. Here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_173.14.20.html They show 173.14.20. So, evidently they are behind on getting the pacakges built. You could try installing the driver from there, but I would remove the YaST repo and the installed package before I tried.
The current driver version is slow especially logging out and i cant use desktop effects without it borking.
Here's the fixes: Linux Display Driver - x86 Version: 173.14.20 Operating System: Linux x86 Release Date: July 01, 2009 Release Highlights * Fixed miscellaneous nvidia-installer bugs. * Updated nvidia-bug-report.sh to automatically compress its log file; running `nvidia-bug-report.sh` now produces "nvidia-bug-report.log.gz". * Fixed a bug that could cause nvidia-settings to generate invalid ~/.nvidia-settings-rc files. * Fixed an nvidia-settings crash when xorg.conf contains Device and Screen sections but no ServerLayout section. * Improved compatibility with recent Linux kernels.
