I was configuring a fresh install of OpenSUSE 11.1 Linux. While I was working on the graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200) and display, I somehow set all pixels to 'white'. This severely limits use of a gui. :-) I've tried various ways to fix this but nada. My latest attempt was to reinstall everything from scratch. No change. My question:
You were configuring ?? what? as <user> or root? what configuration app?
