Listmates, I am pulling my hair out. Opensuse updater applet is broken. I continually gives the error that *NO* backends are installed and that I need to install one and restart the updater -- what?? (I know that's crap because Yast2 -> online update works just fine). So I have uninstalled and reinstalled: 17:06 dcrgx:~> rpm -qa | grep updater kde4-opensuse-updater-0.7.17-6.2 17:06 dcrgx:~> rpm -qa | grep zypp libzypp-devel-4.28.1-0.1 ruby-zypp-0.4.6-5.1 libzypp-testsuite-tools-4.2.3-6.1 zypper-0.11.11-0.1 ruby-zypptools-0.2.0-1.1 libzypp-4.28.1-0.1 17:06 dcrgx:~> rpm -qa | grep rpm rpm-4.4.2-199.1 patchrpm-1.1-110.1 deltarpm-3.4-78.1 rpm-python-4.4.2-247.1 rpm-devel-4.4.2-199.1 rpmkey-packman-0.3.8-0.pm.1 rpmrebuild-2.2.1-12.1 krpmbuilder-1.2-254.1 rpmlint-0.82-53.1 17:07 dcrgx:~> rpm -qa | grep yum yum-metadata-parser-1.1.2-72.1 yum-basearchonly-1.1.13-15.1 yum-3.2.14-15.2 No matter what I do, I get: http://www.3111skyline.com/download/openSUSE_bugs/110/zyppbackend.png This is a brand NEW 11.0 (kde 3.5) install. The only thing that looks out of place is "kde4-opensuse-updater". Is there a link that isn't being made by the kde4 package that is preventing the updater app from finding its backend? Is there some sysconfig setting that isn't set? When I rt-click and choose configure applet, there is *NO* choice for any backend shown in the drop-down select dialog. I'm lost on this one.
