Listmates,
I'm having a really weird keyboard problem with the new KDE 4.2.86 (up to date as of 2 hours ago). All my keyboard keys work, but not the 'e' key. When I press that, it does not show on screen. However, Shift+e produces a capital E. On TTY 1-6, the key produces a normal 'e', so I know it is not broken. With previous versions of KDE, this was never a problem.
The machine is a HP 6730b laptop and in Keyboard Properties in Yast2, I have selected a Generic 104-key PC keyboard, US layout, euro variant. Again, all keys work, including ~ and such. The lower case 'e' is the only letter I can not type.
I'm a bit stumped...can anyone lend me a hand?
Exactly same problm hr! - upgradd to nw kd and qt today - cam hr to ask about this problm and saw this mssag. In consol works just fin, in kdm bfor logging in too. Would b vry nic to har any solution without having to wait for th nxt updat.
I've had weird keyboard issues in the past. I normally just reboot.
I'm pretty sure you could bring up a console (cntrl-alt-F1 for instance) and switch to init 3 and back to init 5 to fix it.
Not the most elegant solution, but not normally the end of the world either.

Rebooting did not help. And as I have said, this problem appears only after logging in kde - in KDM and console (ctrl+alt+f1) works just fine, so this is definitely not X.org problem. I'm also using russian keyboard layout, and the corresponding russian letter, located on the 'e' key, also is not typed.

does not look like this issue - I can't type 'e' in any application (qt, gtk or plain X) and as root key is also not typed -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
