Replying to my own post, When I say static, I mean no expected orregular
sound. It sounds like burst of firing from an automatic weapon.

I find I can play wmv files with Mplayer, sooooo, it
probably boils down to the xine engine or libxine. I went into Yast and
updated Kaffeine, xine-ui, and libxine1. Anyone can tell me what other
packages should be there?, or better yet what can be causing this?

No answer here but have a sort of similar problem, but about a week ago,
suddenly my kaffeine player won't play any wmv's at all. No
upgrades/updates done here either. It still plays all mpg's and ogg's and
such, but simply stopped playing wmv's. Mplayer and kmplayer both play
wmv's just fine.

Hmmm....sounds similar. But you get nothing? I do have the video correctly but
with the horrible noise.

others.
Seems they aren't paying much attention lately.
