Just to summarize what works (for me:):

In my /etc/fstab, I mount NFS volumes at boot. My entries are like this:

source:/vol1 /source/vol1 nfs
defaults,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,bg,soft,intr,noatime 0 0

Do you have NFSv4 enabled? I do, but not for these two. The NFS server
is running openSUSE 11.0

I know you have written it before, but exactly what is in
your /etc/fstab on the client?

Is the system: name /etc/fstab resolvable at boot? Or does it require
access to a DNS?
