[opensuse] Audio static in wmv

Helllo SuSE people,
Running 10.3, Kde 3.5.10 on s 64 bit machine. Kaffeine, Xine, and all codecs
installed. No recent upgrades.
All of a sudden, when I go to play a wmv file with Kafffeine or Xine the audio
portion consists of short bursts of static only. An mpg file plays properly.
Amarok plays mp3, wav, streaming audio. Youtube audio works fine. It is just
the wmv files. Tried several of my old archived wmv files that I know used to
work, same result.
Any ideas? Anyone seen or heard of this before?
