There is 1500 people subscribed to this list and 220 to offtopic.
Anything that is not openSUSE first line technical help, on this list means
harassment of 1500 people, that did not subscribe and allocated resources
(time and bandwidth) to receive comp.misc.other messages. Patrick is just
their voice, and calling him OT police is flat insult to majority.
On the other hand 220 subscribers of opensuse-offtopic are there to hear
almost anything.
I probably have to repeat that old forums.novell.com had the largest traffic
in a part of forum designated for chat, because almost everyone was subscribed
to his particular area of technical interest *and* chat.
And, should I say, that nobody complained on warnings when thread went astray
and someone warned about that. Discussion will continue in the chat area, and
that's all. IMHO, that should happen here too, instead of lengthy discussions
why offtopic should be allowed here (or anywhere else).
We all have need to say something that is not in any way related to the any of
the lists, and that is offtopic ML for.
If some people are lazy to spend 3 minutes to subscribe to offtopic list, why
other 1500 should bear with their need to post off topic stuff without saying
a word.
