[opensuse] start-up problem on Shuttle X27

openSuSE 11.1 with KDE often (about 50% chance) requires to login twice
and displays colorful horizontal stripes during the boot procedure. In a
worst case, SuSE boot hangs and forces me to unplug the power cable -
the X27 has no reset button.
Ubuntu 8.10 on another HD partition on my Shuttle X27 shows no boot
problems.
What can I do?
