Hi, Is there a way to swap the right and left audio output channels? I know rather little about sound under Linux. I'm running whatever is the default setup on openSUSE 11.1. I found a somewhat old FAQ page for ALSA that gave a simple recipe for swapping right for left: From http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/FAQ: -==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==- "How can I tell ALSA to swap the left and right stereo channels on my soundcard? "Add this to your ~/.asoundrc file: pcm.swapped { type route slave.pcm "cards.pcm.default" ttable.0.1 1 ttable.1.0 1 } "Then instruct your program to play to the ALSA PCM device named swapped. If it isn't the default device you want to use, replace cards.pcm.default by the name of your device of choice. If you want to swap the channels in all applications by default (by making swapped default), just add this line: pcm.!default pcm.swapped ..." -==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==- Would this work under a stock openSUSE 11.1 installation? I have the vague impression that it uses something called Pulse Audio and there is a file /etc/alsa-pulse.conf that hits that the aforementioned recipe might work: -==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==- @hooks [ { func load files [ "/etc/asound.conf" "/etc/asound-pulse.conf" "~/.asoundrc" ] errors false } ] confdir:alsa.conf -==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==- Randall Schulz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
