The strace I mentioned in my other email would be the next, and if nothing
interesting shows up there, a coredump might help in tracking down the problem

_Exactly_ the same here but only on a nvidia 64 bit desktop.
kdostartupconfig4 doesn't use any graphics, so the nvidia part is irrelevant.
I have a 64bit nvidia here, and a 32bit ATI, and both work fine.
My old ATI
laptop upgraded fine. Looks like there was another update even though it's
the weekend. Maybe that's the solution. Pls let me know if you get it
going.
