Hi list,
- my SuSE11.1 with the latest Nvidia driver (installed via YaST), crashed a few times on me. - so I downloaded the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-180.44-pkg1.run package, switched to runlevel 3 and ran it. Without problems.
- however, when I intend to startx, I get:
"Error: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has version 180.29, but this NVIDIA driver component has version 180.44. Please make sure that the kernel module and all NVIDIA driver components have the same version."
Now, I understand what it says...but I sure don't know how to remedy the situation. I would either like to
a) get the new driver running, or b)revert to the old .29 driver (I did backup the working xorg.conf)
Any and all help is appreciated (this mail was written on a spare machine, sigh...)
You'll need to rmmod the old driver and then insmod the new one or just reboot. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
