I downloaded skype for suse 10+ and installed it on s11.
I'm able to login to a skype account created on another
computer, but I cannot activate a skype test call.
I know that my headset works, but I am having trouble
verifying that the mike works.
How do I get the test call to work?
Thanks.

Have you verified that the mike works at all?
No, but the headset I am using is a brand new Plantronics. This headset
comes with a usb adaptor, but it seems not to work at all with Linux.
The earphones work when plugged into the earphone jack of external
speakers. I have verified by running the Fedora mixer program that
the mike and mike boost are muted and I have not figured out how to
unmute them. On Suse I am running without Gnome and KDE, so I have not yet
figured out how to check and adjust the volume of the mike. I am a
complete newbie with a/v on Linux. I have been running mplayer on
OpenBSD for about a year, but have not even attempted to use a mike
until yesterday.
Skype call test works now on both F9 and S11, but nothing I say is
played back.
Boris.
David,
I am not sure what to say... Can you verify that that mike works on
any system? I mean, on the one hand I don't see any reason why it
shoould be defective, on the other hand, at this point I have yet to
see any indication that it works at all.
Boris.
