Is it possible to replace the X from 11.1 with the X from 11.0?

X is xorg. do you want to downgrade from 7.4 to 7.3 ?

Yes.
Thanks for the other responses too, some convincing. I really appreciate
the time you have given me. What I want to do is the downgrade. Is there
a way? Using 11.0 is not an option.

Why not? I don't think the kernel ABI is drastically different
between the 11.0 and 11.1 kernels, so you should be able upgrade the
kernel easily enough.

Then for other non-gui packages, I would think you could just upgrade
them from the 11.1 repositories.
