Hi all,

We need a few 2 channel raid controllers that are kernel supported by
OpenSUSE 10.2 / 10.3 / SLES 10 SP2. We have some 4 channel 3Ware 8506
controllers working with SLES 10 SP2; they are supported by default by
SLES 10 SP2. They are not available any more.

3Ware has a 8006-2LP 2 channel Raid. Has anyone used it with SLES 10 SP2
or OpenSUSE 10.2/3? It has source according to
http://www.3ware.com/support/OS-support.asp. Has anyone tried it yet?
Any info will be appreciated.

Has anyone got alternatives like Adaptec, or some cheaper manufacturer
than 3Ware?

TIA

Al

If you can live with software raid, I have had great luck with the promise
sata300 tx4 pci (4 port) ~ $60. I have used them with opensuse 10.3 and 11.0
with _zero_ problems. I don't know about whether the kernel module used has
been incorporated into the kernel yet. I just know you plug it in, attach the
cables throw the install dvd in and install as usual with nothing extra
required. Just google the name for the best prices. I think newegg is ~$66 but
you can find it for less than 60.
