Anyone with ideas on what makes 11.1 so extremely slow at boot andhalt time when run as a VMware Server guest?
11.0 was really fine, but 11.1 can take up to 6-7 minutes just tocome to 'Starting udev'. Same goes for a halt, it takes up to 10
minutes to halt the VM.
Hi Anders,
Try to boot with options "hpet=disable clocksource=acpi_pm"
This should help.
Thank you!
That certainly did it.. Now I just have to read up on the kernel
In addition to the kernel documentation, there is an interesting
white paper how VMware handles the time. Googling
vmware_timekeeping.pdf will probably get you a link.
Joachim
Thanks!
I'll take a look at that paper any day soon.. ;-) Right now I'm buried in other
issues... Like VMs going into "uninterruptable sleep".. *sigh*
Anders.
