Just additional info to let you know how I installed it here and how it works 
(openSUSE Factory, but there is not much changed to 11.1 yet.. that's
why it works).

- download the ISO from the novell beta site (I use x86_64)
- unpacked the content to /mnt/NCL
- added it as a repo to zypper (zypper ar /mnt/NCL NCL)
- installed it (zypper in -t pattern novell-ncl)

Logout / login (some path variables are messed otherwise, as it's installed in 
/opt) and then you can start using it.
