Confirm that sound does _not_ work for root, then we know you have a sound
problem as opposed to a config issue. I generally do new installs as opposed to
upgrades, that way I know I have a working system I can fall back on.

use it since I have less than 8 'windows' open on 8 desktops. Persevere and
you will be rewarded. Your best bet is to right click on the taskbar and check
all the settings. I'm not sure whether the new control centre has it in there.

Hello listmates,Finally some peace and quiet around here without having to here all that noise
I completed an upgrade installation from openSUSE 11 to openSUSE 11.1. So far,
I am not overly happy with KDE 4.1, lots of minor issues, which are making my
life difficult. No sound being one of them. KDE complains that my sounds card
does not work. My built-in webcam (which worked under openSUSE 11) no longer
works.

Another thing is that with KDE 3, I could tell the window manager not toThat setting should be there somewhere 'cause I know I tried it but no longer
display windows from all desktops in the task bar. With KDE 4, I can't find
this setting. Does anybody know where it is, or is this something I will have
to learn to live with?
