libnvtvsimple I found out by going over to my 11.0 installation is
provided by libnvtv which is nowhere to be found in the 11.1
files/repos. I had to install it from the 11.0 version after which
xine-ui installed and is now working correctly.

resolves your problem.
libxine1-codecs file has been installed for sometime. Once again,
there's something scewed up in the repositories or in the system.

Now that I think back, I had the same problem with kaffeine coming up
with missing codec or something like it. I am trying to remember what I
actually did to overcome this (and I know that not having libnvtv
installed had something to do with my hassle but I think this was mainly
related to the inability to use digital TV).
Also, something at the back of my mind is telling me that I had to make
packman have a higher priority over videolan for updates -- I think!
:-( (All sorts of thoughts going thru the mind about what I did to get
kaffeine going.)
'Already have done that, but make increase the priority more.
Let's start from scratch and see if this helps.
The files I have to ensure are installed for me to use either xine or
kaffeine (and kaffeine uses the xine engine) are:
libxine1
speex
w32codecs
libdvdcss
libxine1-dvb (for my TV card)
xine-lib
Lib. is "no more"....remember...conflicts?
libxine1-codecs
xine-ui
libnvtv
See if the above are installed and in the meantime I'll keep trying to
remember what I actually did to get kaffeine running. (Oh, I always copy
over to a new install my ~/.xine directory so as not to have to
reconfigure the xine engine in the new installation.)
xine config. was left alone...I didn't remove it. I sent to private
cover a post on all this.....VERY strange indeed.
