Hello!
I've just installed 11.1 on my home computer. I'd like to have an almost empty desktop as I used to before; however, in 11.1 I cannot delete the two help icons ("opensuse", "online help"). I'm on gnome.
I've tried to remove them in ~/Desktop as root (for I haven't got any rights for them as user - this is a little weird, but OK), with no success. They are on the Desktop even if the ~/Desktop is empty. If I try to move the icons to another location on the desktop, I get this:
Error while copying "SuSE.desktop". There was an error copying the file into /home/canahari/Desktop. Error removing file: Permission denied
It seems it really tries to copy+delete them instead of changing location. Now, is this a bug or a feature? It's really annoying. Have anyone found a solution about removing them?
Those icons are property of the root user. They shouldn't be, and I
thought that that issue was fixed before the goldmaster. But anyway, to
delete them, the easiest way I know how is to log in to root (go into
login screen, select "Other user", type "root" for username, then your
root password), then right-click on those same icons on that desktop,
select "Properties" from the menu. Go to "permissions" tab, and choose
"Read and write" for Access for all options. Log out, go back to your
desktop, bam.
