I got the boot to work now, by setting in the running kernel.
Good!
That's ok, but I lost so much I can see, so that would be a very huge job to reinstall Yast, Zypper, Sax2 and all the other packages, that is not installed.
Not really...
OK, sounds good.
Of course it can be done with RPM, but as there are so many dependencies.
Don't worry. It is just a question of patience. First install yast, using rpm commands (put in one line the rpm command with all the needed packages from the dvd), then tell yast to install whatever you think you need. You are not the first one that had to do that.
Ok, that means: rpm -Uvh Yast 1 Yast2 and so on ?
Perhaps: cd to the directory in the dvd holding the yast packages, and try:
rpm -i yast*
That's nice.
If it says it needs something else, add it to the line. It is doable!
Ok.
However, the automatic rescue function of the install DVD should be able to do all that automatically. Did you try that?
But there are errors, and after a rescue there's no news installed. Does the rescue do a logfile ?
Think I'll wait for the 11.1 version.
Whatever :-)
