I've come across something a little odd between the Software updater applet and the YaST Install Software app. (openSUSE 11.0)
As far as I can tell, they should both be using the exact same repositories.. right? Well, the Updater applet tells me that I have a few dozen apps that can be updated to a newer version (Upgrades tab). If I look in Install Software, everything is up to date. If I use the Updater applet to upgrade the apps it says are upgradeable, it goes off and does as it's told. Then if I look in the Install Software app, ALL of the upgraded apps show as red indicating I'm using a newer version than is available in the repositories.
So.. what's up? How do I resync things... or more importantly, how is it that they are out of sync since.. I assume... they use the same repos and the same RPM database, and the same backend for managing and installing updates....

Usually newer packages are available on a regular basis via the Backports repository. I would recommend using Software Management. Check the Software Repositories and see if something is enabled. If you do or do not want to upgrade the packages you can always disable them. Cheers!
