OK, all is not lost. First, confirm that the problem is in fact a lack of disk space on /var (as it was on my system) by doing df -h (this can be done as a normal user). This will show you the amount of free disk space on all your partitions.
If you don't have a separate /var partition (and you might not) then / could be full.
You can clean out the package cache by going to /var/cache/zypp/packages and (as root) removing everything under this folder. Then try your update again (do df -h again for comparison purposes).
Cheers, Rodney.
Hi Rodney, In 10.3 there is only /var/cache/zypp/raw (directory) and zypp.db in /var/cache/zypp (no packages directory) I moved everything to another subdirectory (/var/cache/zypp/backup), started to rebuild the repo with yast, and only the DVD was added. Any external source produces the error. Btw, df -h is all ok with space (the first place I normally look for such strange behaviour). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sdc5 16G 7.0G 8.1G 47% / udev 1.5G 148K 1.5G 1% /dev /dev/sdc1 102M 62M 41M 61% /boot /dev/sdb6 31G 25G 5.9G 81% /home /dev/sdc6 264G 248G 16G 94% /home/Data/Data1 /dev/sda4 211G 201G 9.4G 96% /home/Data/Data3 /dev/sdd1 466G 446G 20G 96% /home/Data/Data4 /dev/sdb8 21G 44M 21G 1% /tmp /dev/sdb7 246G 93G 154G 38% /home/Data/Data2 /dev/sr0 4.1G 4.1G 0 100% /media/SU1030.001 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ :-) Al -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
