NO 'clean' here.

OK, all is not lost. First, confirm that the problem is in fact a lack of
disk
space on /var (as it was on my system) by doing df -h (this can be done as a
normal user). This will show you the amount of free disk space on all your
partitions.

If you don't have a separate /var partition (and you might not) then / could
be full.

You can clean out the package cache by going to /var/cache/zypp/packages and
(as root) removing everything under this folder. Then try your update again
(do df -h again for comparison purposes).

Cheers,
Rodney.

Hi Rodney,

In 10.3 there is only

/var/cache/zypp/raw (directory) and zypp.db in /var/cache/zypp (no packages
directory)

I moved everything to another subdirectory (/var/cache/zypp/backup), started to
rebuild the repo with yast, and only the DVD was added. Any external source
produces the error.

Btw, df -h is all ok with space (the first place I normally look for such
strange behaviour).
