Me, no; he did. On one computer it took 50 minutes, 10 on another identical system. That difference is not normal.
I'm not sure that conclusion is justified. Considering intra-disk transfer, the possibilities of a fragmented filesystem and a slow drive, I don't think it necessarily points to anything outright broken, just somewhat of an outlier on the low side of the expected performance distribution.
I don't have 40 GiB free to test it myself.
