Hi, I am using openSUSE 11.0 and KDE 3.5.10. I have been using multiple desktops, and the contents of each desktop show as miniature icons on the appropriate desktop in the desktop thingy on the taskbar. I have just switched on Compiz Fusion, with rotating desktop views which looks gtreat, but I'm a little confused by the setup. In CompizConfig Setup Manager > General Settings > Desktop Size there are three settings that I can play with. Horizontal Virtual Size is needed to get the rotating cube effect and I have set that at 4. Vertical Virtual Size has me puzzled. I can't work out what it does :( It is currently set at 1. Number of Desktops appears to be the same thing that I used pre-Compiz, but on its own (ie with the above two settings at 1, and Number of Desktops at 4) it doesn't rotate. So I need HVS to be set at something
1.
With these current settings, my desktops whiz round nicely, but there is no way to tell which app is running on which desktop, or to move an app from one desktop to another. In fact, they seem to default to all running on desktop 1, which rather defeats the object of having more than one desktop. When I play around with HVS, VVS and No. of desktops I often get 2^n desktops (eg 16 or 32) as if they are multiplying themselves in various combinations. Another, less important, problem is I'm only allowed one desktop wallpaper, whereas in my pre-Compiz time I could have a different image on each desktop. Has anyone solved these problems?
