<rant mode> So I guess I installed a kernel update yesterday.
Suddenly, when trying to connect to work tonight, I was unable to (a) launch VirtualBox to load Vista (in order to use the Cisco VPN client within a VM) and then (b) failing that I was unable to launch the ciscovpn client.
Both apparently needed kernel updates and both required about half an hour of checking to find where to do the bloody thing.
In my basket notepad, I keep a basket labeled "kernel updates" with one of the entries: Configuring kernel modules for an upgraded kernel Boot to runlevel 3, then for FGLRX sh /usr/bin/fglrx-kernel-build.sh VirtualBox sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup or sudo rcvboxdrv setup It has help cut down on my <rant> posts.... -- David C.
